Dr. Levita Bui graduated with her Ph.D. from Oklahoma State University with her area of specialty in School Psychology. Dr. Bui completed her postdoctoral internship at the University of Alabama at Birmingham and worked at Glenwood, Inc., which is a non-profit clinic specializing in children with autism, behavioral and emotional disorders. This site also offered Dr. Bui with unique opportunities to learn more in the areas of autism, which she hopes to bring to her practice in Lincoln, Nebraska. Dr. Bui has specific interests in the area of early intervention and behavioral interventions specific to children on the spectrum. Dr. Bui specializes using the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS) which is a semi-structured observation schedule utilized to assess possible symptoms of autism in children and adults. In addition, Dr. Bui hopes to develop relationships and communication with pediatric physicians in the Lincoln area to offer services and support for their patients that show early signs of autism.
Currently, Dr. Bui is accepting children and adults who have questions regarding autism, behavioral and emotional difficulties, and disability evaluations. She plans to begin social training groups modeled after the PEERS model, which aims to improve social skills through coaching, modeling, and feedback. These groups will be organized in Levels 1 though 3 as a progressive way to support the child’s growth in social communication and appropriate social interaction competencies. If a child was unable to meet the objectives of each level – they can participate in that level’s “practice group” under Dr. Marti’s PERT groups to provide additional opportunities to practice these important skills until their level is offered again.
